Okay, now going to solving the question.
In 1 hour, the both of them made \(\dfrac{880}{8}=110\)(pies)
So the sum is 110, the absolute difference is 10.
Alex made more pies.
So Alex made \(\dfrac{110+10}{2}=60\)(pies) in 1 hour
Alex made 60 pies in 1 hour.

Oh, forgot to mention, this is basing of the speculation that they make pies at a very constant speed :)
