The difference between any two consecutive numbers in the list a, b, c, d,e is the same. If b = 5.5 and e = 10, what is the value of a?

    Think of these numbers as points on a number line.
    Between b and e, there would be exactly 3 equal segments.
    So each of those segment would be \(\dfrac{10-5.5}{3}=1.5\)
    Therefore a would be \(5.5-1.5=4\)
