The oattern for the sum of consecutive even numbers befinning from 2 is as follows:

 \(2=2=1\times2\)

\(2+4=6=2\times3\)

\(2+4+6=12=3\times4\)

\(2+4+6+8=20=4\times5\)

\(2+4+6+8+10=30=5\times6\)

\(⋮\)

Devise an expression for the sum of n consecutive even numbers.

    Given a sum :  2 + 4 + 6 + ... + 2k

The number of terms is : 2k−22+1=k

     ( terms )

So, the result of this sum is : k.(2k+2)2=k.(k+1)

    Example : 2 + 4 + 6 = 2 + 4 + 2.3 ; so k = 3; then 2 + 4 +6 = k.(k+1)=3.4 .

    Given a sum :  2 + 4 + 6 + ... + 2k

The number of terms is : \(\dfrac{2k-2}{2}+1=k\) ( terms )

So, the result of this sum is : \(\dfrac{k.\left(2k+2\right)}{2}=k.\left(k+1\right)\)

    Example : 2 + 4 + 6 = 2 + 4 + 2.3 ; so k = 3; then 2 + 4 +6 = k.(k+1)=3.4 .
