    S dodecagon = S original rectangle - S removed squares

    S original rectangle = 4.5=20 (cm2)

    S removed squares = 12.4=4 (cm2)

    So S dodecagon = 20-4=16 (cm2)

The area of the dodecagon is: \(4\cdot5-\left(1^2\cdot4\right)=20-4=16\left(cm^2\right)\)

    The area of the original rectangle is : 4 x 5 = 20 (cm2)

    The total area of the removed squares is : 12 x 4 = 4 (cm2)

    The answer is : 20 - 4 = 16 (cm2)

    The area of rectangle is: 5.4 = 20 [cm2]

The area of each small square is: \(\left(5-4\right)\left(5-4\right)=1\) [cm2]

    So the area of the dodecagon is: 20 - 1.4 = 16 [cm2]
