Three-year-old Sally attends a preschool class every weekday. One day, five new students were added to her class, after which there were \(\dfrac{3}{2}\)  as many students in Sally’s preschool class as before. How many students were in the class before the addition of five new students?

5 students is : \(\dfrac{3}{2}-1=\dfrac{1}{2}\) of the number of students in the class before

The answer is : \(5:\dfrac{1}{2}=10\) (students)

Call the students before the addition is: A. The students after the addition: B. We have:

\(\dfrac{3}{2}=\dfrac{B}{A}\) (Arrcoding to the ratio). So the students before class is: \(5.2=10\left(students\right)\)
